Indented bar codes can be read by Sensis® Corporation's Bumpy Bar Code^TM Readers that read both zero contrast bar codes represented by subtle changes in the surface height, as well as traditional black and white bar codes.

The Sensis® Reader can be interfaced with data collection system and/or IBM compatible PC. A check-sum located at the end of the bar code message double checks the reading. If the check-sum doesn't equal the total of the preceding numbers, the bar code will not read. To operate the unit, the user aims the reader at the bar code, positions the unit's red line across the bar code and pulls the trigger to input the code.
